FROM THE OFFICE OF THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Dear friends and colleagues,
The day after Tax Day! I hope y’all breathed a sigh of relief as I did, thank God. As promised, this is the second in a series of letters that I’m sending out before the July reunion. Joe Graciosa, our very capable treasurer, has started to receive dues and reservations for our CME and events. It is just a trickle but I am hopeful that more will start to come in by the end of April and May.
The response to the souvenir program is somewhat disappointing. To date, I have only received a couple of ads. I am calling on all the jubilarians (class years ending in 4 and 9) and even non-jubilarians to consider advertising. It is a wonderful memoir of your jubilee in addition to helping our organization stay afloat. This and our membership dues (which have not increased since time immemorial) are our only source of income. President Brad Tan is starting a gift shop on our website. It is not quite finished but I would encourage everyone to check it out when it is ready and that may be another source of income.
I am reminding everyone of the following deadlines:
SUBMISSION OF PRINTER-READY ADS May 15, 2024
PAYMENT OF DUES, CME & EVENTS May 28, 2024
HOTEL RESERVATIONS June 12, 2024
As of this posting, there were only 4 rooms available for July 17, 1 room for July 18, 34 rooms for July 19 and 33 rooms for July 20. I have a call placed to our Hyatt contact to increase the number of rooms for the 17 th and 18 th but remember that this is on a space available basis. We have to be able to reach 80% of our contracted rooms to avoid being penalized which is why we are so conservative with reserving the number or rooms. So please folks, start reserving ASAP! If you have any problems obtaining rooms, please give me a call at 757-753-9237 and I will try to help.
Have a wonderful spring everyone!
My best,
Risë
