Executive Director Update 11/16/2023

FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

November 16, 2023

Hello everyone!

As promised, this is the second message of a series to engender enthusiasm, increase

membership involvement and provide information before our annual reunion in Orlando, FL from July 17-21, 2024. I will continue to send out messages so you can physically, emotionally and financially prepare for that event.

This past September I finally signed off on the contract for the reunion with the HYATT REGENCY GRAND CYPRESS HOTEL on One Grand Cypress Blvd, Orlando, Fl. I encourage everyone to look up their pictures on Google. The contract calls for 38 rooms reserved for July 17 and 18 and 78 on July 19 and 20 with 3 days before and 3 days after at the same rate based on availability. They MAY be able to increase the

number of rooms based on availability – hence the reason we are placing the cut-off date rather early so we have time to increase the number of rooms if necessary. More on that later.

The contracted room rate is $232 per day for single and double occupancy plus taxes of course (currently 12.5%). There is an additional $25 for triple occupancy and $50 for quadruple occupancy. They reduced the resort rate to $10 from $45 per room per night and the daily self-parking rate to $15 from $30. The Board thinks those are great concessions. We hope advertising these rates early will help everyone set aside funds to budget this event into their schedule for 2024.

We also promised to inform you early of the cut-off dates so here goes:

  • FOR PAYMENT and SENDING OF PRINTER-READY PAGES OF SOUVENIR PROGRAM – 5/15/2024

  • FINAL PAYMENT OF DUES AND EVENTS – 5/28/2024

  • FOR RESERVATION OF ROOMS – JUNE 12, 2024

We also reduced the number of events but increased the price of each event slightly:

  • WELCOME PARTY – 7/17/2024 - $150

  • GRAND BALL – 7/20/2024 - $250

Hopefully, adhering to the above schedule will make it easier for the committee to work on food, beverage and seating arrangements well before the event. We are encouraging ALL THE JUBILARIANS (from the graduating classes of the years ending in 4 and 9) to advertise in the souvenir program. This, and maybe selling merchandise, are the only ways we can add to our membership dues as income-producing methods. So PLEASE consider helping out – and this means even the non-jubilarians are welcome to assist.

We will be sending out invitations in February so that everyone will have to time to meet those scheduled cut-off dates. I will also be calling some key people of those jubilarian classes to help getting their classmates to join in the fun. Please agree to help when I call!

CIAO AND HAVE A WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!
